Ripple has entered into a strategic alliance with South Korean financial firm Meritz Securities to look into institutional digital asset custody and tokenization infrastructure for the nation’s capital markets. Unveiled on October 14, 2026, this deal represents Ripple’s initial collaboration with a South Korean securities firm as it broadens its engagement with local financial institutions.
Under this accord, both organizations will investigate how Ripple Custody and Ripple’s tokenization technology might integrate into Meritz Securities’ current operations. Built for regulated financial institutions, Ripple Custody supplies infrastructure aimed at the secure safeguarding, transfer, and settlement of digital assets.

The partners intend to launch their joint efforts inside South Korea’s existing regulatory boundaries and Meritz’s established securities business. Per Ripple’s statement, they may widen their scope in phases as the country refines its guidelines regarding digital assets.
This alliance arrives as Meritz Securities gets ready for the potential incorporation of digital assets into the regulated South Korean financial ecosystem. The company is reviewing several prospective business sectors, which include spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs), fractional investment tools, security tokens, digital asset trading platforms, and Korean won-backed stablecoins.
Meritz Explores New Digital Asset Services
The agreement does not guarantee that Meritz will roll out any specific products through Ripple. Instead, the entities will evaluate how institutional custody and tokenization frameworks can back future offerings as regulatory frameworks advance.
For financial institutions, custody infrastructure serves as a critical component in managing digital assets, offering systems to secure holdings and manage transfers and settlements. Simultaneously, tokenization allows financial assets to find digital representation on blockchain networks, potentially enabling innovative approaches to issuing, holding, and transferring them.
Byungha Kang, managing director of Meritz Securities’ Strategic Planning Unit, stated that the partnership unites Ripple’s global digital asset infrastructure with Meritz’s capital markets expertise. He added that the organization intends to roll out digital asset financial services incrementally as South Korea’s regulatory landscape progresses.
For Ripple, the pact introduces another institutional partnership in Asia. The firm noted that Meritz marks its fourth institutional collaborator in South Korea for 2026, following Kyobo Life Insurance, Kbank, and Jeonbuk Bank.
Kyobo Life Insurance is utilizing Ripple Custody for tokenized government-bond settlement, while Kbank is rolling out digital asset wallet infrastructure. Meanwhile, Jeonbuk Bank has integrated Ripple Payments for cross-border remittances.
Ripple reported that it functions across more than 60 markets and maintains over 85 licenses worldwide. Nonetheless, the Meritz announcement did not outline a product launch schedule, reveal financial details, or verify whether future services will leverage XRP or the XRP Ledger.
